Snow had fallen, snow on snow.....

If  any able-bodied parishioners are available any time on Saturday to bring a shovel (or snow plough!) to the Church grounds to make everything more accessible and safe for the weekend Masses, that would be wonderful. There is rock salt in the garage. Fr Colin will be around from approx 3pm.

Thank you in anticipation.

Pastoral Letter

At Mass this weekend we heard a Pastoral Letter from Monsignor Tom McGovern, our Diocesan Administrator. It is well worth careful study. You can read it here.

The Pastoral Letter tells us that the Bishops of England and Wales are inviting us to pray and reflect with them on the gift of marriage and family life and their place in the Church’s in advance of next October’s meeting of the Synod of Bishops on the vocation and mission of the family. To help us, they have produced The Call, the Journey and the Mission, copies of which are available from your parish or here.

If you would like to share any reflections, please send them to Father David Palmer, Chair of the Marriage and Family Life Commission (The Presbytery, Lenton Boulevard, NOTTINGHAM, NG7 2BY(catholicdavid@mac.com), by Easter Sunday.

Newsletter for 10/11 January - Baptism of the Lord

Click here to read the latest newsletter. As some of you will be aware, there has been a glitch in the usual way I post the newsletter over the last couple of weeks. I think that this has now been resolved, but, just in case the first link doesn't work, here is an alternative.

The newsletter mentions a document, 'The Call, the Journey and the Mission.' It can be downloaded here.

More online prayer resources

A parishioner has kindly drawn my attention to this app (for iPhone and iPad) which gives a format and timer for a time of still, centering prayer. It is based on the writings of an American Cistercian, Fr Thomas Keating. An Android version is planned.

Another popular prayer website is Sacred Space, a work of the Irish Jesuits. (No app for this one!)

Love and prayers...

...to Deacon Andrew and Kathryn as they celebrate their silver wedding.

Sunday's Mass with Bishop Ralph of Hallam as our principal celebrant, was a lovely celebration of God's love reflected in the love of husband and wife.

God bless you and your family.
